Gentlemen of Purpose, one of the programs at Ignite Youth Organisation partnered with Peace First , LA Initiative, Hope Sustains Life, Youth Vision Overload to host a career day on the 22nd of July 2023 in Domboshava.
Career Day aimed to empower young people on choosing a career in line with their purpose. This initiative was in line with SDG’s 3 and 4 which talk about Quality Education (4) and Good Health and Well-Being (3). Students are more likely to eagerly engage in academic pursuits when their mental and physical health is catered for. Discovering their purpose at an early stage can help reduce stressors they may be faced with.
Presentations at the career day were facilitated by our Partnerships Director, Mr. Tinashe Shumba, and Programs Director, Mr. Tanaka Mutangandebvu. The Youth in Domboshava and the community leaders were very happy with this session to the extent of requesting that the career guidance sessions become a regular. Kudakwashe Foya from Peace First LA and some Ignite members have started mentoring some of the high school students, helping them to discover different and better opportunities.
