FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: PRESS RELEASE
Ignite Youth Organization Announces 1st Edition of Chinagwa Festival: A Transformative Mental Health Awareness Event in Harare on October 11, 2025.
1 July 2025
Harare, Zimbabwe – Ignite Youth Organization is thrilled to announce the inaugural Chinangwa Festival, a groundbreaking mental health awareness event designed to unite young people, mental health professionals, community members and NGO representatives. This pivotal festival aims to foster a supportive environment, promote mental wellness and reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues.
Our organization is dedicated to helping youth reach their full potential through a purpose-centered approach to career guidance and a holistic model of youth development. Under our Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Program, we will host the Chinangwa Festival on the 11th of October 2025, at 13 Maasdrop Ave, Belgravia, Harare, Zimbabwe.
The festival will focus on promoting mental health awareness and holistic well-being among young people aged 18–29. While this is our primary target audience, we welcome attendees from all age groups, recognizing the importance of understanding mental health in its many facets.
The event aims to demystify common misconceptions surrounding mental health while raising awareness of its various manifestations. Participants can expect practical solutions to mental health challenges, including self-care methods, counseling services, keynote addresses, and panel discussions featuring distinguished mental health practitioners and NGOs.
In addition, the festival will explore mental health through intellectual, physical, and artistic means. Attendees can engage in key sessions, recreational activities such as Zumba, and enjoy creative performances, including dance, singing, and poetry. Several NGOs will be present to interact with attendees, fostering a multifaceted approach to mental health. The festival aims to raise awareness, develop community support, educate and empower, encourage physical and emotional wellness, and network.
“ Attendees and guest speakers will have the opportunity for open dialogue, education, and sharing experiences related to mental health challenges,” remarked Hillary Nhetekwa, Senior Operations Director at Ignite Youth Organization. “This will allow participants to hear directly from experts and peers about strategies for coping, accessing support, and maintaining good mental health. The day will conclude in a vibrant festival and evening concert, fostering community spirit and joy, which are vital for positive mental health. These engaging elements will complement the more serious discussions and counseling.”
Mental health is a critical component of overall health, yet it is often overlooked and underfunded in many countries, including Zimbabwe. The Chinangwa Festival seeks to address these issues and create a lasting impact.
Tickets are priced at US$3 per person. Attendees can purchase tickets online, via our website, or through the Ecocash and Innbucks platforms. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased in person at our offices at Flexiworks, First Floor, Corner Robert Mugabe and Orr Street, Harare or the event entrance. We encourage advance purchasing to secure your spot.
We look forward to seeing you at the festival!

Harare, Zimbabwe – In celebration of Mother’s Day, Ignite Youth Organization, in collaboration with Destiny Child Foundation, will host a special event for teenage and young mothers. Themed “Every Mother Matters,” this gathering will take place at Stodart Hall, Mbare, Harare, on the 21st of June 2025.
The event aims to uplift, empower, honor the strength and resilience of teenage mothers while providing a supportive space for connection and joy. It will also facilitate the collection of essential groceries and clothing items, as well as funds to help these young mothers thrive.
Young mothers often face numerous challenges as they navigate parenthood at a tender age. This Mother’s Day celebration will recognize their dedication, offer encouragement, provide resources and offer a memorable day of celebration.
“As an organization deeply committed to uplifting youth, we recognize the unique strength and resilience that young mothers embody every day,” said Tadzie Madzima, Founder of Ignite Youth Organization. “This Mother’s Day celebration is more than just an event; it is a heartfelt message to every teenage mother that they are appreciated, celebrated, and supported on this special day. Our goal is to build a supportive network that empowers these young women not only as mothers, but also as individuals with dreams and potential and purpose. We are privileged to partner with Destiny Child Foundation in creating a day of hope, inspiration, and community”.
We invite community members and donors to participate by contributing food items, baby clothing, or offering services for the event. With all of our joint efforts, we can ensure each young mother feels loved and valued this Mother’s Day.
