On the 29th of June, Ignite Youth was invited to celebrate the day of the A by . The event celebrated and empowered the girl child in numerous ways. Tadzie Madzima, founder and director of Ignite Youth, was one of the key note speakers, alongside Award-winning News Presenter and Mental Health Advocate Vickie Mlilo and Tv Presenter, Oscar Pambuka. in attendance were various NGOs, primary and high school students as well as community members.
Vickie Mlilo emphasized the importance of mental health, and how it spans across one’s entire life. Not only did she break down the concept of mental health, she also illustrated some of the key ways to build up a strong mental health framework.



Tadzie Madzima spoke on sexual abuse and assault as it pertains to the girl child. She spoke on consent, and its importance. She also touched on ways one can report or announce any form of sexual abuse/assault.
Oscar Pambuka, the famous ZBC reporter, touched on drug addiction and abuse. He opened up by asking the audience, mainly consisting of school students, what sort of drugs they knew and have been exposed to. Students name various drugs from marijuana, cocaine to ecstasy. Mr Pambuka then spoke on his journey with drugs, advising against it, even if it’s purely experimental.The speeches were also in conjunction with student performances, which ranged from poetry, singing to music.
Overall, the event was an immense success, and to wrap it up the team was invited to join in a traditional lunch. Ignite Youth would like to extend its gratitude to Bright Girls Movement for the powerful collaboration.
